YouTube/Instagram Made Me Buy It - Is Is Worth the Hype?!

I'm a beauty blogger. Shocking, right?! So as one might assume, I am obsessed with all things beauty.  I'm a total sucker for beautiful packaging, ANYTHING shiny, "Limited Edition" labels, and of course, everything NEW!  Which made me realize that I AM the target market - anyone who buys into this idea of "hype." It got me thinking: how much makeup have a I purchased strictly because my favorite beauty accounts on any given social media platform recommended me to do so?

I rummaged through my vanity and pulled out ALL of the products that I bought specifically because it had been talked about over and over and over and over (you get the point). I am here to give you a comprehensive list of products you have most likely heard of - if you aren't living under a rock - and let you know whether they are WORTH IT or NOT!

Let's start with primer, shall we?

NYX Angel Veil Face Primer - Although this is a drugstore primer, it's pretty expensive. I think I paid $21 for it... WTF? It is meant to hydrate and reduce the appearance of pores... Maybe I got a bad one but I do not like this. I mean its not terrible, but it is not great either. It's a little grainy and sometimes leave a white cast on my face.  Overall? I'd pass.

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation - It's $4.99 and has better coverage, a nicer finish, and easier application than most foundations.... ever.  I review it in greater detail HERE. The skinny? Yes, so much yes. Definitely worth the hype!

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer - I know this product has a cult following... but I don't know why.  It creased on me so bad that I had to take it off and redo my under-eye concealer.  I'll stick to my other favorite concealers, you can read what they are HERE.

Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder - The OG of setting powders and the first one I ever tried.  I like it but it's definitely on the more expensive end of the spectrum.  Is it my favorite? No. But it is in my Top 5 (which you can read HERE).

Jouer Long-Wear Lip Creme Liquid Lipstick - I was originally introduced to this brand through YouTube; prior to following into a makeup-induced psychosis, I had never heard of them. This was said to be the longest lasting, most comfortable liquid lipstick so naturally I bought four... But I think those claims are somewhat false. It's somewhere in the middle for me - not the most comfortable or longest lasting, but definitely not the worst either.  Let it be known that their color selection is GORGEOUS! They really nailed the nudes, subtle pinks, and mauvey-nudes; by far some of the best colors out there. But all in all, it's not worth the hype.

HUDA Beauty 3-D Highlighter Palette - I reviewed this product in full HERE. I think they are beautiful, creamy, blendable, and for how much product you get, a great value. Worth the money, possibly not worth the hype. Still undecided.

Kylie Cosmetic Blushes - These are some of my favorite blushes. In fact, I don't think they got enough hype. These are so smooth, creamy, and blendable! If you want to read more about them, click HERE. Worth the hype, definitely worth the price!

Ouai Wave Spray - Smells delicious and works well.  I also love the packaging. But it is only a texture spray,  it is not earth shattering or proprietary, yet its $30. Not worth the hype.

The verdict? If I had to pick only a few products, I would choose Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation and HUDA Beauty 3-D Highlighter Palette. XOXO
