Sunday Spotlight: [ALMOST] FREE MAKEUP?!

Yes, you read that title right! Intrigued?! I was, too, when I first learned that I could get heavily discounted, if not free makeup, at my local drugstore.  No, this is NOT a scam. I'm 100% serious.  So, if you want to learn more, just keep reading:

I originally heard of extreme couponing for makeup from YouTube Influencer, Tati Westbrook aka Glam Life Guru. She has a series called "Madness Monday," where she goes into detail about how to get discounted products at drugstores such as Walgreens, Rite Aid, and CVS.  I have personally had the best luck at CVS, so all of these tips and tricks are exclusive to my experience shopping there (Disclaimer: I don't have a Rite Aid near me so I have never had the opportunity to try my hand at extreme couponing there - once I have, I will update you guys).

Alright, first things first: Get the CVS Rewards Card. This is imperative to getting free or almost free makeup.

Next, sign up for the CVS app on your phone. This allows you to check their local weekly deals AND the various coupons CVS has customized for you.  Word to the wise: the more you shop at CVS the better suited the coupons are TO YOUR NEEDS and you'll get more, too.

And lastly, go to CVS and start shopping! When you arrive, you'll want to scan your card (which you can do from your app if you lose the physical card) so you can check current deals before filling your basket. The NEXT best thing you can do is scout the aisles! Begin matching your coupons that just printed, the Sunday paper, CVS flyer (usually near the front door as you walk in), and the daily deals listed on bright yellow stickers as you look.

** Let me give you a hypothetical scenario with some of CVS' current promotions: Maybelline is currently doing a "buy any two items, get $5 back." Meanwhile I have a coupon for $5 off a $10 Maybelline purchase. which means I will only spend $5 to get $5 back. There's also a spend $10 on Physician's Formula and get $7 back in rewards.  Therefore, if I purchase my holy grail Butter Bronzer, I will only pay $5 and get another $7 loaded onto my card for my next purchase.  I then grab a Revlon foundation, because I currently have $3 off.  It's $10.  CVS honors my $7 reward plus the $3 off coupon and it is FREE!

It's THAT easy! The downside? You will have to split transactions.  But that's okay!  It's a little annoying at first and somewhat time consuming but that's the "cost" of free makeup.  Be polite and let people go in front of you.

** Let me know in the comments below how your first extreme couponing experience goes! Have you ever extreme couponed elsewhere before?! Let me know your tips and tricks! XOXO **
