My Current Skincare Routine [APRIL 2017]

I have gotten many questions regarding skincare lately so I wanted to let you guys in on my personal skincare secrets! These are products that I feel have significantly improved the overall appearance and health of my skin.  First of all, let me start by saying I have not always had luminous, healthy skin.  In high school, it was red, dry, and flakey with the occasional, sporadic chin pimples right around "that time of the month" (what a joy that was).

In fact, my skin still has a lot of those same issues.  I have Hashimoto Thyroiditis, which has blessed me with chronically dry skin as a side effect.  Fun fact number 2: Rosacea runs in my family and while I have never been officially diagnosed, I do have a very mild case of it that is most noticeable on my cheeks.  Sadly, the redness and texture on my cheeks has always been something that makes me self-conscious.  However, as I have gotten older, I have come to understand the value and importance of quality skincare because of how helpful it can be to control the inflammation, dryness, and texture that used to plague my face.

Now, let me preemptively address two things I know are going to come up:
1. Yes, my skincare routines are excessive.  There are about 6 steps in both my morning and my nighttime routine.  No, that might not be necessary for everyone but I LOVE SKINCARE! Dare I say more than makeup?! YES! Because the truth is, without taking care of your skin, your makeup will always look like crap.
2. And yes, because there are so many steps, twice a day, and half of it is higher end products, my skincare routine is EXPENSIVE.  I am aware of this.  I am not telling anyone that they should break the bank and run out to their local Sephora or Ulta to clear the skincare shelves plus back stock of every product I suggest.  I just want to let you guys know what currently works for me.

If you would like a more in-depth post about WHY these skincare routines work for me, like the science behind them, check out Stephanie Nicole's Youtube HERE!  She has an insane amount of information about skincare that covers all different skin types on her channel; I am truly fascinated by her knowledgeability so I hope she's helpful to you, too!

As you can tell, I love skincare. I look forward to having hydrated, luminous, and refreshed skin every single morning and night.  If I had to pick my THREE must-have steps, they'd be: cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize. Those are definitely mandatory for every single person out there!

Quick Disclaimer: I go to bed every night looking like a greased chicken from all of the uber-moisturizing products I use.  If you don't have dry skin like I do, I would NOT recommend using so many hydrators or it will mostly likely congest pores - not fun.

** I hope this post was helpful for anyone who struggles with the same skin issues I have.  If you have any questions, please leave them for me in the comments below XOXO **
